Frequently Asked Questions How can I know counselling is for me?At Daybreak Counselling Service we offer an initial appointment which provides an opportunity for you to find out more about counselling, ask any questions you may have, and decide if you feel you will benefit. Will the counsellor solve my problems for me?The counsellor doesn't provide solutions to your problems by giving advice. Instead, she will help you to explore and understand the issues which are affecting you so that you will be able to work them through and move forward in your life. The counsellor believes that you are able to find the answer to the issues which are troubling you within yourself. She is a faciliator in the process, helping you to find these answers. How much will it cost?Daybreak Counselling Service is a non-profit making organisation, so we do not charge a fee. However, we do appreciate donations from our clients, to assist towards professional, administrative and publicity costs. These may be made in line with income, but we are anxious that no-one should feel unable to access our service. As a guideline, we recommend a donation of £5 per session is made for those with an income of up to £10,000 p.a. or £10+ per session where annual income exceeds £10,000 p.a. How many sessions will I need?Counselling will be over a time period as agreed between counsellor and client at the initial assessment interview, usually between 6-12 weeks. This interview gives both counsellor and client the opportunity to see if they feel able to work together. The number of sessions varies from one person to another, and according to different issues raised.
